Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been shortlisted in eight categories at this year’s Water Industry Awards, including Engineering Consultancy of the Year. The awards celebrate excellence across the UK water sector while showcasing industry best practice, innovation, and collaboration.

Stantec is the incumbent Engineering Consultancy of the Year and is again being highlighted for taking a system-level, partnership approach with clients, as well as its ability to deliver sustainable, resilient solutions that address the sector’s biggest challenges. The Company’s Better Together programme, which brings together Stantec’s commitment to its people, has also been nominated for the Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year award. Stantec is undergoing its largest recruitment drive across the UK and Ireland, creating an accelerator experience for new and existing colleagues to boost their careers.

Stantec’s holistic approach when delivering world-first, nature-based solutions has resulted in it being shortlisted for both the Natural Capital Initiative of the Year and Net Zero Carbon Initiative of the Year awards. One such project is also in the running for the Natural Capital Initiative of the Year award – Southwaite Wastewater Treatment Works – Integrated Constructed Wetland. This scheme has been delivered via the Advance Plus JV for client United Utilities.

Yorkshire Water and Stantec worked together to produce a successful entry for the Smart Networks category, based on the Smart Wastewater Networks Initiative. This pilot uses innovative technologies to revolutionise the way sewer flooding and pollution challenges are addressed.

Stantec’s Reality Insight for the Digitalisation award. The service empowers clients through access to 3D reality mesh models of their assets while creating efficiencies and improving health and safety.

Stantec project, Lavant Wastewater Treatment Works – Aerated Wetland Rush Bed has been shortlisted for Wastewater Initiative of the Year. The scheme, submitted in collaboration with Southern Water, and Natural Wastewater Systems uses innovative, hybrid green-grey technology to treat wastewater.

“Having been named ‘Consultancy of the Year’ at last year’s awards, I’m proud that we’re always able to build on our achievements, through an ethos of continual improvement and doing what is right for our industry,” added Scott Jackson, UK and Ireland regional business lead – Water.

“The UK’s water industry must grasp the best ideas and solutions now that will help futureproof networks and support long-term resilience. These nominations show how we’re at the forefront of supporting them and leading this charge,” he continued.

The award evening will be taking place at the Vox in Birmingham on July 4.
